About Nylon-CF Filament
Nylon-CF is a base plastic filled with chopped carbon fiber. The fibers make parts stiffer and more dimensionally stable than the unfilled material, but they are abrasive: every carbon fiber filament needs a hardened steel or other wear resistant nozzle. Read the carbon fiber filament guide →
About the base material: Nylon (polyamide, PA) is a tough, wear-resistant engineering material for gears, hinges, and high-stress mechanical parts, and it is often reinforced with carbon or glass fiber for stiffness. It is strongly hygroscopic: nylon absorbs moisture from the air quickly, so it must be dried before printing and kept in a dry box for good results.
