PLA-GF is a base plastic filled with chopped glass fiber. The fibers make parts stiffer and more dimensionally stable than the unfilled material, but they are abrasive: every glass fiber filament needs a hardened steel or other wear resistant nozzle. Read the glass fiber filament guide →
About the base material: PLA (polylactic acid) is the most widely used 3D printing filament. It prints at low temperatures, barely warps, and holds fine detail, so it runs on almost any FDM printer without an enclosure. That ease of use makes it the default for prototypes, miniatures, and indoor display parts. Its trade-offs are heat and impact resistance: PLA softens in a hot car or direct sun, so it is a poor fit for functional outdoor or high-stress parts.
Best for stiff PLA parts with less warping, for indoor use.
Based on Bambu Lab and Prusa guidance. See the nozzle types guide for brass vs hardened steel.

Everything to know about PLA: properties, print settings, brand differences, and when PLA is the right material.
What high temperature PLA is, how annealing raises its heat resistance, and how to print and anneal it.
How lightweight foaming PLA works, how temperature and flow set its weight, and when to use it.
What carbon fiber filament is actually for, how PLA-CF, PETG-CF, and Nylon-CF differ, and the hardened-nozzle setup they demand.
PLA vs PETG compared: print settings, strength, heat resistance, outdoor use and live price per kg for both, so you can pick the right filament for the job.
PLA vs ABS compared: print settings, heat resistance, toughness, fumes and live price per kg for both, so you can pick the right filament.
