ABS-CF is a base plastic filled with chopped carbon fiber. The fibers make parts stiffer and more dimensionally stable than the unfilled material, but they are abrasive: every carbon fiber filament needs a hardened steel or other wear resistant nozzle. Read the carbon fiber filament guide →
About the base material: ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a durable, heat-resistant engineering plastic used for enclosures, automotive parts, and mechanical components. It needs a heated bed and, in practice, an enclosure to control warping, plus good ventilation for its fumes. In return it handles noticeably more heat than PLA or PETG and holds up better to impact than PLA.
Best for durable, heat-resistant parts like enclosures and automotive components printed in a controlled chamber.
Based on Bambu Lab and Prusa guidance. See the nozzle types guide for brass vs hardened steel.
We compare ABS-CF filament from 13 brands. Read the ABS & ASA filament guide → Filament Cost Calculator →
