We track 2 eSUN PC listings, with prices checked every 4 hours and normalized to a true cost per kilogram. Below is every listing, sorted by price per kg.
PC (polycarbonate) is one of the strongest and most heat-resistant materials available on a desktop FDM printer, holding its shape at temperatures that soften PLA or PETG. It demands the most in return: an all-metal hotend, an enclosure (heated for large parts), and a dry spool, since even small amounts of absorbed moisture cause bubbles and weak layers. PC-ABS, PC-GF, and other PC blends trade some of that peak performance for a print that behaves closer to ABS.
Best for high-strength, heat-resistant engineering parts; PC-ABS/PC-GF/PC-CF blends print easier than pure PC at some cost to peak performance.
Based on Bambu Lab and Prusa guidance. See the nozzle types guide for brass vs hardened steel.

What polycarbonate filament is for: extreme strength and heat resistance, the high temperatures and drying it demands, and where PC blends make sense.
ABS vs polycarbonate compared: heat resistance, strength, printing requirements and live price per kg, so you can choose for demanding parts.
The strongest 3D printer filaments are polycarbonate and nylon, with carbon fiber blends for stiffness. What each is best at, what they need, and live prices.
The most heat resistant 3D printer filaments: polycarbonate, ASA, ABS and PETG compared by the temperatures they handle, with live prices.
The best filament for 3D printed car parts is ASA, with ABS and polycarbonate for hotter spots. What survives a hot car, what to avoid, and live prices.
Nozzle and bed temperatures, enclosure needs, drying settings and heat resistance for every common filament in one table.
