About PLA-CF Filament
PLA-CF is a base plastic filled with chopped carbon fiber. The fibers make parts stiffer and more dimensionally stable than the unfilled material, but they are abrasive: every carbon fiber filament needs a hardened steel or other wear resistant nozzle. Read the carbon fiber filament guide →
About the base material: PLA (polylactic acid) is the most widely used 3D printing filament. It prints at low temperatures, barely warps, and holds fine detail, so it runs on almost any FDM printer without an enclosure. That ease of use makes it the default for prototypes, miniatures, and indoor display parts. Its trade-offs are heat and impact resistance: PLA softens in a hot car or direct sun, so it is a poor fit for functional outdoor or high-stress parts.
