What Snapmaker launched
The functional additions are PETG HF and TPU 95A HF. Both are high-flow variants, tuned to run at higher print speeds while keeping the strength, layer adhesion, and chemical resistance that buyers already choose PETG and flexible TPU for. Each ships on a 1 kg spool with an RFID tag that loads the correct print profile automatically on Snapmaker's U1.
The decorative addition is Silk PLA, a silk finish aimed at smoother, shinier surfaces for display and ornamental prints rather than load-bearing parts. Snapmaker's anniversary coverage also points to a two-tone Silk Dual-Color PLA in the same family.
The filaments arrived with the rest of Snapmaker's anniversary update, including three new hardened-steel hotend sizes (0.2 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm) and Full Spectrum color support in the Orca V2.3.3 Beta slicer. Snapmaker did not attach standalone per-spool pricing to the announcement, though bundle options are listed in its regional stores.
What this means for buyers
On a Snapmaker U1, the RFID tags remove the manual profile setup that normally slows down switching materials. On any other printer these are still ordinary PETG, TPU 95A, and silk PLA, so they remain usable, you just lose the automatic profile loading. The high-flow pair matters most if you print functional parts and want more speed without dropping to a weaker material.
How these fit against what you already buy
High-flow is turning into a standard tier rather than a novelty, with speed-optimized PETG and TPU now showing up across several brands. Because Snapmaker has not published a headline price, the practical move is to compare cost per kilogram against current PETG listings and TPU listings before you commit to the ecosystem spools. PETG in particular has been running close to, and sometimes below, PLA on a per-kg basis this year, which makes it an easy swap for functional work.
