What eSUN announced
eSUN announced PLA-HF on August 12, 2026, and says it is now available through its official global store and authorized international retailers. The company frames it as a step beyond PLA-HS and PLA+HS, the high-speed PLA grades it introduced in 2022, built for the current generation of high-speed printers rather than the machines those earlier grades targeted. At launch, PLA-HF ships in two colors, white and grey, and eSUN has not published a price.
The claims behind the speed
eSUN attributes the speed ceiling to a reworked formulation: tighter control over melt viscosity to keep the filament flowing cleanly at high extrusion rates without stringing or sagging, paired with a faster-cooling formula intended to hold layer adhesion and dimensional accuracy while the print head is moving fast enough to blur older grades. The company also cites a Z-axis tensile strength of 32 MPa, the axis where PLA parts typically fail first, though that figure comes from eSUN's own materials rather than a published third-party datasheet.
eSUN's listed print settings are a 210 to 230 C nozzle, a 45 to 65 C bed, and 100 percent fan speed, which is roughly in line with other high-speed PLA blends rather than a departure from them. The "up to 1000mm/s" figure is explicitly a ceiling tied to what the printer hardware can do, not a speed every machine will hit; eSUN's own recommended operating range tops out at 600mm/s.
What this means for buyers
PLA-HF only matters if your printer can actually run at high-speed rates, CoreXY machines with fast toolheads and high-flow hotends, not a bed-slinger topping out well under 300mm/s. If you're on that kind of hardware already running eSUN's PLA-HS or PLA+HS, this is the newer grade to try first once it's in stock at a price you can compare. If you're not, standard or high-speed PLA from any brand will print just as well at the speeds your printer actually reaches.
