What Polymaker released
Polymaker's ABS lineup previously consisted of PolyLite ABS, a low-odor general-purpose option, and PolyMax ABS, a toughened version using Nano-Reinforcement technology. The two new products sit above PolyLite in terms of performance and are positioned for users who need more from their ABS prints than standard formulations can deliver.
ABS Pro is the more accessible of the two. It targets functional prototypes, enclosures, brackets, clips, jigs, and custom printer components, with print speeds validated up to 250 mm/s. It requires an enclosed chamber at 50°C or higher and prints at 270-290°C with a 100-110°C bed. It comes in 14 color options including standard colors, gradients, galaxy finishes, and two special editions: Fire, Ice, and a Voron Red colorway where Polymaker donates $1 per spool to the Voron Project. Pricing starts at $24.99 per kilogram.
ABS Max is the more demanding option. It requires an actively heated chamber at 65°C or higher, prints at 270-300°C with a 120°C bed, and tops out at 200 mm/s. The higher process requirements come with a mechanical trade-off: tensile strength of 35.66 MPa, flexural strength of 63.29 MPa, and best-in-class creep resistance for parts that need to hold their shape under sustained load and heat. Polymaker positions it for automotive, industrial, and high-load structural applications. It comes in 6 standard colors and is priced at $29.99 per kilogram.
Neither product requires a hardened nozzle. Both are AMS compatible. Polymaker notes that technical data sheets for both are forthcoming, with the launch having just gone live this week.
What this means for buyers
If you have a printer with passive enclosure support like a P1S or X1C, ABS Pro is the relevant option: 50°C chamber is achievable without active heating. ABS Max is aimed at printers with active chamber heating, including the H2D and similar machines. If you currently print PolyLite ABS and want better speed or dimensional stability on functional parts, ABS Pro is the upgrade path Polymaker is pointing toward.
Where this fits in Polymaker's lineup
The launch fills a gap that has existed in Polymaker's engineering materials for a while. PolyLite ABS handles everyday enclosed printing well, but users who needed more mechanical performance were largely pushed toward ASA or Fiberon-family materials. ABS Pro and ABS Max give Polymaker a direct answer for buyers who want to stay in the ABS material family, whether for acetone vapor smoothing, cost, or specific mechanical properties that ASA does not share.
