How to Use Filament Price Tracker
Filament pricing on Amazon is a mess. The same material from different brands can vary by 300% per kilogram, and a spool that looks cheap at $9.99 is often more expensive per gram than a $35 spool. This tool was built to cut through that noise and to surface the actual value of every listing so you can make a fast, informed decision and get back to printing. Here's how to get the most out of it.
Start With Price Per KG
Every listing on this site shows the calculated price per kilogram and not just the total price. This is the only number that matters when comparing filament. A 500g spool at $12.99 is actually $25.98/kg. A 6kg bundle at $47 is $7.83/kg. Without normalizing to price per kg, you're comparing apples to oranges.
The default sort is Price / KG: Low to High
That's intentional. The tracker opens with the best value listings at the top so you can see the actual best deals immediately without any configuration. The market average cards at the top of the page show you what the typical price is right now and anything significantly below that is a real deal.

The Popular Top Deals Section
The four cards at the top of the page show the current lowest price per kg for each major material — PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA, and TPU — filtered to trusted, well-known brands and standard 1kg spools. Think of it as a quick daily snapshot of where the market is sitting.
Filter by Color
Use the color pills at the top right of the deals section to filter the top deals by color. If you only ever print in black, you don't need to see silk rainbow bundles inflating the results. Select your color and the cards update instantly to show the best deal in that specific color.
Switch Material Variants
The PLA and ABS/ASA cards have a dropdown that lets you switch between variants — PLA, PLA+, High Speed PLA, ABS, or ASA. Each variant has its own lowest price displayed independently so you can compare without having to dig through the main listing table.
Market Average Cards
Below the top deals are the market average cards. These show the current average price per kg across all active listings for each material, along with a trend indicator comparing this week to last week. A green arrow means prices dropped and a good time to stock up. A red arrow means prices rose and you may want to wait.
Search and Filter All Listings
The filter section below the deals lets you drill into exactly what you're looking for. The filters work together and you can combine brand, material, color, and size to narrow results down to exactly the listing you need.
Brand Filter
Most useful for loyalty buyersFilter to a specific brand to see all their listings ranked by price per kg. Useful if you've found a brand that works well in your printer and want to see every option they offer. Popular brands are listed at the top of the dropdown for quick access.
Material Filter
Most useful for project-specific buyingFilter to a specific material to see all brands offering that material, ranked by value. This is the fastest way to answer "what's the cheapest PETG right now regardless of brand." Pair it with the size filter to find the best bulk deal on a specific material.
Size Filter
Most useful for bulk buyersFilter by spool weight to compare like-for-like. If you're specifically shopping for 1kg spools, filtering to 1kg removes the bulk bundles that skew the price per kg comparison. If you're looking for the best bulk value, filter to 5kg or 10kg and see what's available.
Listing Type: Single vs Variety
Most overlooked featureThe Single / Variety / All toggle filters out multi-color variety packs. Single shows spools with one color, what most people want for a specific project. Variety shows the multi-color bundles. Great if you're sampling colors or want a mixed set. All shows everything. The default is Single for a reason: variety packs often have a misleadingly low price per kg because each individual spool is tiny.
How to Actually Save Money
The tracker surfaces the data — here's how to use it to your advantage.
Watch the market averages
Check back weekly. When a material's average price drops, it's a good window to stock up. PLA prices in particular can swing 15–20% over a few weeks.
Buy bigger spools
The price per kg difference between a 1kg spool and a 6kg bundle of the same filament can be 40–50%. If you print regularly, the math heavily favors bulk buying.
Don't chase the absolute cheapest
The lowest price per kg isn't always the best value if the brand is unreliable. Cross-reference with the brand guide before committing to a large order from an unfamiliar name.
